What is included in the landscape design process, and how long does it take from concept to installation?

We start the landscape design process with a consultation and site evaluation, then create concept sketches and refine them through revisions. The final design includes carefully chosen plants and materials. Most projects move from concept to installation within 1—6 weeks, depending on scope and season.

How will my budget affect landscape materials or options?

Your budget shapes which materials make the most sense for your landscape installation project. From natural stone and premium hardwoods to budget-friendly concrete pavers, composite, or gravel, you have plenty of options.

What kind of maintenance will the installed landscaping/ hardscape require over time?

Long-term maintenance depends on the complexity of your landscaping design and the materials chosen during installation.

Are there sustainable or environmentally-friendly landscape options available?

Absolutely! Eco-friendly landscaping design has become increasingly sophisticated, offering beautiful solutions that protect the environment. Native plant selections, water-wise irrigation, and sustainable hardscape materials create outdoor spaces that work in harmony with natural systems while delivering stunning visual results.

Do you handle all aspects of the job (removal of existing features, grading, drainage, lighting, hardscape installation), or are there subcontracted parts?

Yes, we handle the complete scope of your landscaping design project, including site preparation, grading, drainage, lighting, and all hardscape installation work.

Can you design a landscape that works the specific constraints of my property, such as slope, soil type, sunlight/shade, and utility locations (pipes, power, etc.)?

Absolutely! Working with your propertys unique characteristics is exactly what professional landscaping design is all about. Our experienced landscape designers assess slope conditions, analyze soil composition, and evaluate sunlight patterns to create your custom plan.

What is the average timeline from starting the project to completion, and what are the key milestones?

Typically, landscape design takes about 1—3 weeks to finalize, with installation requiring an additional 1—2 weeks based on material selection and crew scheduling. However, timelines can vary depending on the size and complexity of your project.

What do landscape design and installation services include?

We handle everything from site assessment and custom design to plant selection, hardscaping, and irrigation setup, ensuring your outdoor space is cohesive and functional. You get a tailored plan and a seamless build process managed by one team.

How long will my landscape project take in Merrifield, VA?

Timelines vary by scope, but most designs finalize in 1—3 weeks, with installation taking another 1—2 weeks, depending on materials and crew availability. Local scheduling for lawn care in Merrifield, VA, also factors in weather, permitting, and seasonal demand.

Can I bundle landscape installation with ongoing maintenance?

Your package might include a measured base map, planting plan, material specifications, lighting and irrigation guidance, along with 2D or 3D renderings for a clear picture of the design. For landscaping design in Merrifield, VA, the local climate, soil conditions, and code requirements shape both the plan and timeline.

I don't normally write reviews, but here you go. I was looking for core aeration, overseeding, and top dressing and landed on The Grounds Guys due to their responsiveness and the ease of getting a quote, requesting changes, and getting a quick turn-around. Pricing was fair and they came out when expect. Now to be fair, I was disappointed in one aspect of the work, but here's the thing: after reaching out to them we were able to have a fair, reasonable, and constructive dialog. They heard my side, understood where I was coming from, and were back in 2 days to make things right. And made it right they did, working extra hard and going above and beyond. That's how you handle customer service.

Grounds Guys did an excellent job on our project. Andre really listened to what we were hoping to do. He provided ideas and did not overpower things. It was very low pressure. Our project started on time and the team was incredible. They were all aligned with the plan and so kind and courteous. They worked SO hard!! Our finished product exceeded my expectations! I LOVE our new walkways and landscape elements. I had neighbors texting or intentionally stopping by to compliment the work. Highly recommend Grounds Guys from start to finish!

We have a larger property in Mclean. I sent out 26 requests for proposals to various landscaping companies in the area. The Grounds Guys and Andre (the owner) stood out by far — both for the level of customer service, and knowledge. Andre is a former marketing executive with a formidible team of franchisee owners, and other specialists behind him who deeply care and know alot about lawns and landscaping. We've been using the Grounds guys for six months now — for landscaping purposes, for snow removal, for gutter cleanings, and holiday lighting. I am grateful to have found them. They have been incredibly responsive to our needs, are exceptionally professional, have a deep knowledge of the work, and I can trust them for fair market rates.

We reached out to the Grounds Guys days before the snow/ice storm hit on Jan 24 and they responded immediately. After assessing our needs for driveway, walkway and sidewalk clearing they provided a reasonable estimate for snow removal. Although they were delayed a few days due to the severity of the ice accumulation from the storm, they did an excellent job on our property and we would definitely use them again.
