What is included in the landscape design process, and how long does it take from concept to installation?

Landscape design begins with an initial consultation and site analysis. Concept sketches are prepared, refined through revisions, and finalized with specific plant and material choices. Depending on the project’s size and the season, installation usually takes 1—6 weeks from concept approval.

How will my budget affect landscape materials or options?

Budget considerations influence every aspect of your landscape project, from initial planning to final installation. Premium materials create stunning results, but strategic landscape design can achieve a similar visual impact using cost-effective alternatives.

What kind of maintenance will the installed landscaping/ hardscape require over time?

Maintenance requirements vary based on your landscaping design choices and installation methods.

Are there sustainable or environmentally-friendly landscape options available?

Yes, sustainable landscape options are both beautiful and beneficial for the environment! Key eco-friendly approaches include native plants that require minimal water and support local wildlife, permeable hardscapes that prevent water runoff and flooding, and more.

Do you handle all aspects of the job (removal of existing features, grading, drainage, lighting, hardscape installation), or are there subcontracted parts?

We provide complete project oversight for your landscaping design, managing all phases from demolition through final landscape installation. Our team coordinates site preparation, grading, drainage, lighting systems, and hardscape construction under unified project management.

Can you design a landscape that works the specific constraints of my property, such as slope, soil type, sunlight/shade, and utility locations (pipes, power, etc.)?

Absolutely! Our landscaping design process is specifically designed to work with your propertys unique conditions and constraints. We evaluate slopes, analyze soil composition, map sun and shade patterns, and identify utility locations to support your custom plan.

What is the average timeline from starting the project to completion, and what are the key milestones?

Most landscape design projects are completed within 1—3 weeks, followed by 1—2 weeks for installation, depending on materials and crew availability—but the exact timeline will always depend on your project’s scope and complexity.

What do landscape design and installation services include?

We handle everything from site assessment and custom design to plant selection, hardscaping, and irrigation setup, ensuring your outdoor space is cohesive and functional. You get a tailored plan and a seamless build process managed by one team.

How long will my landscape project take in Arlington, VA?

Timelines vary by scope, but most designs finalize in 1—3 weeks, with installation taking another 1—2 weeks, depending on materials and crew availability. Local scheduling for lawn care in Arlington, VA, also factors in weather, permitting, and seasonal demand.

Can I bundle landscape installation with ongoing maintenance?

Included in your package may be a measured base map, planting layout, material specs, lighting and irrigation details, and 2D or 3D renderings that bring the design to life. For landscaping design in Arlington, VA, local soil, climate, and building codes influence the plan and schedule.

I don't normally write reviews, but here you go. I was looking for core aeration, overseeding, and top dressing and landed on The Grounds Guys due to their responsiveness and the ease of getting a quote, requesting changes, and getting a quick turn-around. Pricing was fair and they came out when expect. Now to be fair, I was disappointed in one aspect of the work, but here's the thing: after reaching out to them we were able to have a fair, reasonable, and constructive dialog. They heard my side, understood where I was coming from, and were back in 2 days to make things right. And made it right they did, working extra hard and going above and beyond. That's how you handle customer service.

Grounds Guys did an excellent job on our project. Andre really listened to what we were hoping to do. He provided ideas and did not overpower things. It was very low pressure. Our project started on time and the team was incredible. They were all aligned with the plan and so kind and courteous. They worked SO hard!! Our finished product exceeded my expectations! I LOVE our new walkways and landscape elements. I had neighbors texting or intentionally stopping by to compliment the work. Highly recommend Grounds Guys from start to finish!

We have a larger property in Mclean. I sent out 26 requests for proposals to various landscaping companies in the area. The Grounds Guys and Andre (the owner) stood out by far — both for the level of customer service, and knowledge. Andre is a former marketing executive with a formidible team of franchisee owners, and other specialists behind him who deeply care and know alot about lawns and landscaping. We've been using the Grounds guys for six months now — for landscaping purposes, for snow removal, for gutter cleanings, and holiday lighting. I am grateful to have found them. They have been incredibly responsive to our needs, are exceptionally professional, have a deep knowledge of the work, and I can trust them for fair market rates.

We reached out to the Grounds Guys days before the snow/ice storm hit on Jan 24 and they responded immediately. After assessing our needs for driveway, walkway and sidewalk clearing they provided a reasonable estimate for snow removal. Although they were delayed a few days due to the severity of the ice accumulation from the storm, they did an excellent job on our property and we would definitely use them again.
