The 49th Annual Academy of County Music Awards will be held Sunday, April 6 on CBS. The Grounds Guys®, coming from a Culture of Care, looked into the country music culture and the Culture of Care they bring to their industry. Many country musicians take on charity work as a way of giving back to their communities and loyal fans. The Grounds Guys highlighted some country music stars and the charities they promote.
Carrie Underwood, Save the Children
Save the Children is a worldwide program that advocates for large-scale change for children around the world. Save the Children includes 120 countries and has reached 125 million people. In 2011 Carrie Underwood donated a check worth more than $140,000.
Rascal Flatts, Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital
Located at Vanderbilt in Nashville, Tenn., Monroe Carell jr. Children's Hospital ranks among the best children's hospitals in the nation. It was founded in 1970, has 271 beds and has a level 1 trauma center. Rascal Flatts performs benefit concerts, visits patients and attends their annual party for kids.
Toby Keith, cancer awareness and U.S. service members
The Toby Keith Foundation, founded in 2006, helps children with cancer. The organization created the OK Kids Korral, a place for kids and parents to connect with each other and focus on the well being of the children. Toby Keith is also heavy involved in building troop support and morale. He has been in 11 USO tours supporting troops overseas.
Miranda Lambert, animal rescue
Miranda is heavily involved in animal rescue. She is part of Mutt Nation Foundation; a charity that rescues unwanted, abused and neglected pets across the U.S. Miranda also supports animal rescue organizations such as Red Star Rescue and North Shore Animal League.
Jason Aldean, cancer awareness
Jason Aldean donates to Susan G. Komen. He performs an annual "Concert for the Cure" show in support of breast cancer awareness. His 2013 "Concert for the Cure" raised $575,000 for breast cancer awareness.
Dierks Bentley, children's hospitals
Dierks Bentley leads "Miles and Music" an annual motorcycle ride that takes place to raise money for a children's hospital. In 2013 "Miles and Music" raised over $307,000.
Brad Paisley, Target House at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital
Target House is a long-term housing facility for families of patients receiving care. Brad and his wife Kimberly helped create the Paisley Lodge, a room at Target House. The house features a down-home country style. The design mirrors the Paisleys' own cabin.
LeAnn Rimes, Nashville Humane Society
LeAnn is a supporter of animal shelters and supports local efforts to raise money and awareness for animal causes. She has led the Dog Day in the Park Celebration in Nashville, a benefit that supports the Nashville Humane Society.
Trace Adkins, Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Network
After finding out that his daughter has food allergies, Trace Adkins began promoting awareness of food allergies. He has worked with the Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Network, the largest non-profit dedicated to food allergy awareness, to help spread the word about food allergies and the help that is out there for those who have them.
Taylor Swift, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital
Taylor Swift is among the many country musicians that support St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. She has teamed up with the Academy of Country Music to donate money for the research hospital.
