Meet The Owner Of The Grounds Guys of Stone Mountain
The Grounds Guys of Stone Mountain first revved up its lawn mower engine and opened its doors in February 2020. However, owner Bafana Moyo will tell you that his passion for lawn care and providing exceptional service started many decades before. “Landscaping is in my blood,” says Bafana. My grandfather owned a landscaping business in Jackson, MS. When I was teen, I would work alongside him caring for yards in my neighborhood. I was proud that my grandfather owned his own business and learned a great deal from him about caring for soil, understanding what was needed for a healthy lawn and providing great customer service. But I was a teen, a football playing, carefree living teen and while the opportunity to stay in Mississippi and grow my grandfather’s business into something that I could one day inherit was an option, I chose a different opportunity and decided to pursue my education at Emory University.
Through the years, lots of education, and a couple of technology startups, I honed my skills as a technologist and gained a penchant for business. All the while, I still loved “playing in the dirt” and learning more about the role we play in the beautification of our natural surroundings. When I was presented with the opportunity to buy a Grounds Guys franchise, I knew I was not going to let the chance to grow a landscaping business pass me by once again.
The Grounds Guys is a professional full-service grounds care company. Time tested, established systems allow the company to deliver industry-leading lawn care and landscape solutions to residential and commercial clients. Built on a family tradition of caring, the Grounds Guys team members are driven by a passion to exceed customer expectations and consistently deliver client satisfaction.
Bafana particularly enjoys the amazing transformation of a spring cleanup and the uncovering of blossoming possibilities it creates. He enjoys the challenge of trouble shooting problem areas and really gets into understanding the science of how and why plant life thrives. He says, “I think of the lawn as a unique signature feature to your property. You can have a beautiful house but without the appropriate lawn to go with it you lose that “wow” factor and blend in or worse stand out for all the wrong reasons.”
Bafana has lived in the Smoke Rise-Stone Mountain community for 6 years along with his wife and two sons. A recent Facebook post reminded him that he visited Stone Mountain for his senior class trip, which was a big deal for the carefree living teen back then. Bafana is certain that his grandfather would be pleased with his decision to continue his landscaping legacy.
Bafana is actively involved in his community where he works to develop leaders, promote mentoring, and academic excellence, as a longtime member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc and through the entrepreneurial training program within his business. As a member of the Georgia Tree Council, Bafana aligns with their mission to actively raise awareness toward improving and maintaining Georgia's community forests. He looks forward to contributing to the continued beautification of the surrounding community and helping his customers enhance their landscapes and incorporate their personal touches for the enjoyment of their property.
