We have a large property which needed quite a bit of TLC. We have worked with several landscapers but never got the quality of work that we received from the Grounds Guys. They were hard working, meticulous, neat and focused on every detail. They devoted the necessary resources to transform our property in one day! We highly recommend them and have finally found the high quality service that we have been looking for!

They quickly responded when I contacted them regarding my concerns in my drainage system. They located the clog and determined that some of the pipes needed to be replaced. They dug out and replaced the pipes, cleared the other pipes and put the lawn back so you could hardly tell it was disturbed.

It was a privilege working with Daniel Sadler and the amazing Grounds Guys team. Daniel is the owner of the company which has franchise locations all over the US. Daniel’s team worked on improving our property for selling. This is my parents’ home and so I only wanted the best. And I knew that I was working with the best because of Daniel’s extensive knowledge and his intuition of all things nature. Daniel immediately impressed me during our first meeting. Daniel, who studied horticulture in college, pointed out all of the various trees and plants on our property and named them all without batting an eyelash: “That’s hosta, that’s arborvitae, that’s a boxwood, that’s a spirea shrub, that’s a berberis, that’s phlox….” etc. He was even able to name dead trees and plants without any leaves on them! Despite being the owner of such a large company, Daniel visited our property daily while the work was being done and I always felt confident that our property was in good hands. In addition, Daniel was very responsive to all of my communications, of which there were many, and he would always action my requests quickly. I learned a lot by working with Daniel. I didn’t know anything about landscaping. And it felt like I was back in 7th grade science class again. I learned about where the rain water flows on our property and where the deer trail on our property is. I finally learned the difference between perennials and annuals – (an annual lives just once). I learned the names of the various plants on the property and how to tell if a plant is dead — (if you break off a branch and it’s green, then it’s alive). I learned that vines aren’t good for trees and actually strangle them. And I learned that a sapling is a young tree with a slender trunk. Did you know that the right time of the year to trim arborvitae is in the spring? If you trim them in the summer, they will go into shock. And I learned that one key aspect of good landscaping is consistency and unity. While working with Daniel, I thought to myself that Daniel has the infectious energy of Steve Irwin mixed with agility of Tarzan. It’s clear that this is what he is born to do. When discussing his ideas on clearing our trees that were blocking the view of our backyard lake, Daniel was so excited about the prospect of how it would look that I thought I saw him swinging from the trees! On a couple of other instances, while evaluating some steep and precarious rocky inclines on our property, Daniel dashed up and down the slopes like a cat in the wilderness. The Grounds Guys team worked at lightning speed, checking off everything that I wanted done on the list, and also completing things that I didn’t know that I needed. They worked so quickly that I found myself adding more to the list regularly, all of which they speedily accomplished. Here is a list of some items that The Grounds Guys completed on our property: 1. Planted perennials, shrubs and grass seedlings 2. Trimmed shrubs to look like perfect balls 3. Added mulch to all plant beds 4. Removed dead plants, dead trees, weeds, and unneeded rocks 5. Cut down tree saplings covering the view of our backyard lake 6. Dug an underground drainage system to catch the rain run-off 7. Straightened Belgium blocks and stone steps 8. Added polymeric sand in between flagstones 9. Fixed and extended gutters that were draining into the foundation 10. Cleaned out a dumping ground of decades’ worth of tree & junk material on our property 11. Patched up with cement a hole in our foundation The Grounds Guys workers were very hardworking, efficient, kind, friendly and polite and they always cleaned up after their jobs were complete each day. I actually never saw tools, leftover plant containers, or anything of the like on the property and I’m convinced they used magical powers to perform their work. My only regret is not knowing that the team does other things like masonry and redoing patios! Had I known this, I would have asked the team to redo our old patio. I would highly recommend The Grounds Guys for all of your grounds needs!

As an industry leader, The Grounds Guys are committed to using our 20+ years of lawn care and landscape knowledge and experience to help bring the vision for their property to life. This includes answering your questions about landscape and lawn care services. Below are answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about irrigation services in Hawthorne.
-
With a well-designed irrigation system, most businesses and homeowners see water use drop by 20—50% compared to manual watering, depending on your soil, plant types, and climate. We boost efficiency by zoning your landscape correctly, pairing lawns with a sprinkler system and beds with a drip irrigation system, then dialing in schedules to match actual plant needs. Most yards cut outdoor water use by 20—40% when lawns run on a sprinkler system and beds use a drip irrigation system, each dialed to local soil and climate. We drive further savings with smart controllers, soil-specific runtimes, and pressure regulation as part of our sprinkler system Installation and irrigation system repair. Small issues add up: leaks, clogged nozzles, and misaligned heads can waste 10—25% of your water. Regular sprinkler system repair and irrigation system repair, plus pressure regulation and seasonal adjustments, keep efficiency high and bills low. Ongoing maintenance is key to maximizing efficiency: seasonal tune-ups, leak detection, and nozzle cleaning often reclaim thousands of gallons lost to hidden issues. Our irrigation system repair services include performance audits and smart controller fine-tuning to keep your system running at peak efficiency year-round.
-
We offer both a sprinkler system for broad lawn coverage and a drip irrigation system for precise, plant-by-plant watering. Our irrigation system installation starts with a pressure/flow test and site assessment so we can specify the best system and zones for your plants and soil. Our irrigation services in Hawthorne, NY include both a sprinkler system for turf and a drip irrigation system for beds, and we recommend the best fit based on your plants, sun, and soil. After an on‑site review, we’ll specify the irrigation system that delivers maximum efficiency for your yard. A sprinkler system excels at even coverage for larger turf areas, while drip targets roots to save water in beds and around trees. We often blend both systems, zoning them after a pressure/flow test to match your landscape’s plants and soil. We install and maintain both types of irrigation system, tailoring zones and programming to your soil, slope, and plant mix. Our team will help you decide between sprinkler vs drip, then back it with irrigation system installation and irrigation system repair for long-term efficiency and performance.
-
It starts with a site inspection and water audit, then a custom design that balances coverage and conservation—pairing high-efficiency sprinklers for turf with drip for beds, plus smart controllers, rain sensors, and certified backflow prevention. We secure permits, coordinate 811 utility locates and inspections, and ensure full local code compliance from day one. As part of our irrigation system installation, we plan your project, assess water pressure and coverage, and engineer an irrigation system that may combine a sprinkler system for turf with a drip irrigation system for beds. We handle permitting, specify the correct backflow device, and schedule final inspections. We are your trusted choice for irrigation services in Hawthorne, NY. To minimize disruption, our crew uses precise trenching or trenchless tools, installs heads, drip lines, and piping, then programs zones and run times as part of full-service irrigation services in Hawthorne, NY. We take care of permits, pass inspections, and deliver a turnkey irrigation system installation that’s ready to water the day we leave. Your project concludes with documented results, warranty coverage, and a clear maintenance plan to keep performance at its peak. Count on The Grounds Guys for seasonal tune-ups and quick, priority support when anything needs attention.
-
Make it a monthly habit in peak months to test every zone for even coverage. Puddles or dry patches are red flags—then schedule a professional tune-up once a year (twice for large or high-use landscapes). A provider of irrigation services in Hawthorne, NY can pressure-test lines, recalibrate zones, and handle irrigation system repair to keep your sprinkler system and drip irrigation system running efficiently. During peak watering months, do a quick monthly walk-through. Run each zone, watch the sprinkler system for overspray or misting, and inspect the drip irrigation system for clogged emitters or wet spots. If you spot uneven coverage or pooling, book sprinkler system repair before water waste adds up. Whether it’s after a new irrigation system installation or on an older setup. Partner with reputable irrigation services in Hawthorne, NY to stay on schedule. At minimum, inspect once a month during peak season, and add an extra check after any sprinkler system installation or irrigation system installation to confirm proper coverage. Any pooling, misting, or uneven spray should trigger a service visit before higher bills and water waste kick in.
-
Leaky lines, low pressure, and clogged sprinkler heads are the usual culprits behind dry spots and high water bills. We typically diagnose the issue during a same-day visit and complete minor fixes like, nozzle cleanouts or small leak repairs on the spot. Leaks, pressure issues, and clogged spray heads are the most common calls we see. With our irrigation services in Hawthorne, NY, we can usually diagnose and complete sprinkler system repair immediately. Larger irrigation system repairs within a few days if parts or upgrades are required. Leaks at fittings, sediment-clogged emitters, and low pressure are frequent in both an irrigation system and a drip irrigation system. We provide fast irrigation system repair with same-day troubleshooting and repairs completed in the same appointment whenever stocked parts fit the job. Problems typically consist of leaks at fittings, clogged nozzles, and sprinkler system pressure drops from worn parts, which we can often resolve with same-day sprinkler system repair. More complex valve or mainline work typically takes 24 to 48 hours to complete.
