Eric walked the yard with me and discussed various options for our very bare and open lawn in a newer development. He made suggestions and recommendations within the budget that I provided. He communicated with the very uninformed management group for our HOA, which is always a feat in and of itself. 🙄 The crew just finished the project yesterday, and they did a great job-very detailed. For example, they mulched all areas around the house, including an area in front that wasn’t part of the project so that all of the mulch matched. We are very pleased and will be looking forward to working with Eric and his crew on a Phase 2 next spring! 😊

We hired the Grounds Guys of McHenry to recommend a drainage solution for our gutters and sump pump, as we were collecting a lot of water near the perimeter of our home. Other companies recommended French Drains, however, Eric suggested a more comprehensive solution that combined French Drains with Dry Wells. This turned out to be brilliant, as it keeps water from flowing out the top of the drains unless we get an excessive amount of rain! The Grounds Guys use their own employees – not subcontractors – to perform the work (huge plus!). They left our lawn looking as good as they found it! They used a sod cutter in areas where they dug, so they could repair our lawn with our existing grass when they finished. One very minor issue – they accidentally cut through our Xfinity line. The owner, Devor, owned up to it and said they would cover the cost of repair. That is some real integrity right there! Our experience was excellent. Their prices are comparable to others in the area for the work being performed. They are pleasant, professional, and very responsive when you call. We will consider doing business with The Grounds Guys of McHenry for future projects.

We are so happy with this service. We’ ve been with them for a year now. Our lawn looks great despite having lousy soil in this area. Crews are professional and dependable, show up when scheduled, and adjust their frequency based on the weather & need. Extra services are available a la carte and they are always well done too. At first we had some issues with EFT payments, but they were gracious and patient while we worked it out. Easy to use online dashboard keeps us up to date. I recommend them to anyone needing outdoor work.

They did a great job with our mulching. Besides mulching our existing beds, they cut a new area for mulch around the perimeter of our house, and also cleaned out stones and piles of sod that were under our deck before leveling the area and adding mulch. Their service was timely and the price was reasonable.

Always great people to have take care of your lawn. The Ground Guys have great staff, they do right by their clients and they do great work in order to ensure your yard is what you want it to be & well maintained.

His team – Jerry, Jarold, and Noah – just came out to do some demolition and clearing work and did a fantastic job. They were quick and thorough. I really appreciate the fact that he explained a lot about how they mow the lawns depending on the many factors that affect the grass. He was very knowledgeable and communicated very well. He also did a great job of mowing my lawn and leaving it looking perfect considering how leafy it was. He has been mowing here for most of the season and is a real asset to the company. Skyler and his crew did a great job removing my existing grass, and island in my front yard. They installed 720 square` feet of new Kentucky bluegrass sod. The yard looks fantastic, and I would use them again for any of my landscaping needs. They also installed premium brown mulch around the house, which really gave the house the fresh look that it needed!!!! I have to say Sean was great talking to me on the phone, and getting job estimate and date to due the work! Great job by The Ground Guys of Mchenry!!

Let’s be honest here… I’m recommending the local franchise owner (Eric in McHnery).,, he is the guy that is ultra reliable, always makes sure he delivers the best quality, turns up when he says he would. I found him through the good brand reviews… but he is the guy that makes me want to leave a 5 star review.

We were using another company to fertilize our yard for several years. We finally gave up on our hopes of a nice green lawn and switched to the Grounds Guys. Within months our yard was beautiful. We highly recommend.

Awesome!! That is the only way to describe what Eric, Karen, and their team did to our home. From in person consult, landscape plan, landscape installation, core aeration, fertilizing, and weekly lawn mowing Eric and his team show up promptly at 8am, and don’t stop until the entire is done. I am extremely impressed with Eric who as an owner is right there getting his hands dirty with his team and guiding them along the way to an end product we all are extremely proud of. Also, Karen who manages the office, is very friendly and easy to talk to. In addition she relays messages to the owner in record time. They were very reasonable in price and Eric spent time offering some additional suggestions for future landscape projects. We hired them for a fall clean up service and are so relieved to have our tree line and garden beds all done for the season. We had a lot of leaves and all of that was taken care of on the lawn.
