We have a large property which needed quite a bit of TLC. We have worked with several landscapers but never got the quality of work that we received from the Grounds Guys. They were hard working, meticulous, neat and focused on every detail. They devoted the necessary resources to transform our property in one day! We highly recommend them and have finally found the high quality service that we have been looking for!

They quickly responded when I contacted them regarding my concerns in my drainage system. They located the clog and determined that some of the pipes needed to be replaced. They dug out and replaced the pipes, cleared the other pipes and put the lawn back so you could hardly tell it was disturbed.

It was a privilege working with Daniel Sadler and the amazing Grounds Guys team. Daniel is the owner of the company which has franchise locations all over the US. Daniel’s team worked on improving our property for selling. This is my parents’ home and so I only wanted the best. And I knew that I was working with the best because of Daniel’s extensive knowledge and his intuition of all things nature. Daniel immediately impressed me during our first meeting. Daniel, who studied horticulture in college, pointed out all of the various trees and plants on our property and named them all without batting an eyelash: “That’s hosta, that’s arborvitae, that’s a boxwood, that’s a spirea shrub, that’s a berberis, that’s phlox….” etc. He was even able to name dead trees and plants without any leaves on them! Despite being the owner of such a large company, Daniel visited our property daily while the work was being done and I always felt confident that our property was in good hands. In addition, Daniel was very responsive to all of my communications, of which there were many, and he would always action my requests quickly. I learned a lot by working with Daniel. I didn’t know anything about landscaping. And it felt like I was back in 7th grade science class again. I learned about where the rain water flows on our property and where the deer trail on our property is. I finally learned the difference between perennials and annuals – (an annual lives just once). I learned the names of the various plants on the property and how to tell if a plant is dead — (if you break off a branch and it’s green, then it’s alive). I learned that vines aren’t good for trees and actually strangle them. And I learned that a sapling is a young tree with a slender trunk. Did you know that the right time of the year to trim arborvitae is in the spring? If you trim them in the summer, they will go into shock. And I learned that one key aspect of good landscaping is consistency and unity. While working with Daniel, I thought to myself that Daniel has the infectious energy of Steve Irwin mixed with agility of Tarzan. It’s clear that this is what he is born to do. When discussing his ideas on clearing our trees that were blocking the view of our backyard lake, Daniel was so excited about the prospect of how it would look that I thought I saw him swinging from the trees! On a couple of other instances, while evaluating some steep and precarious rocky inclines on our property, Daniel dashed up and down the slopes like a cat in the wilderness. The Grounds Guys team worked at lightning speed, checking off everything that I wanted done on the list, and also completing things that I didn’t know that I needed. They worked so quickly that I found myself adding more to the list regularly, all of which they speedily accomplished. Here is a list of some items that The Grounds Guys completed on our property: 1. Planted perennials, shrubs and grass seedlings 2. Trimmed shrubs to look like perfect balls 3. Added mulch to all plant beds 4. Removed dead plants, dead trees, weeds, and unneeded rocks 5. Cut down tree saplings covering the view of our backyard lake 6. Dug an underground drainage system to catch the rain run-off 7. Straightened Belgium blocks and stone steps 8. Added polymeric sand in between flagstones 9. Fixed and extended gutters that were draining into the foundation 10. Cleaned out a dumping ground of decades’ worth of tree & junk material on our property 11. Patched up with cement a hole in our foundation The Grounds Guys workers were very hardworking, efficient, kind, friendly and polite and they always cleaned up after their jobs were complete each day. I actually never saw tools, leftover plant containers, or anything of the like on the property and I’m convinced they used magical powers to perform their work. My only regret is not knowing that the team does other things like masonry and redoing patios! Had I known this, I would have asked the team to redo our old patio. I would highly recommend The Grounds Guys for all of your grounds needs!

As an industry leader, The Grounds Guys are committed to using our 20+ years of lawn care and landscape knowledge and experience to help bring the vision for their property to life. This includes answering your questions about landscape and lawn care services. Below are answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about landscape design.
-
Landscape design starts with a consultation and a detailed look at the site. From there, we create concept sketches, make adjustments, and finalize the design with plant and material selections. Most projects transition from concept to installation within 1—6 weeks, based on scope and seasonal considerations. The design package may include a measured base map, planting plan, material specifications, notes on lighting and irrigation, and 2D or 3D renderings for easy visualization. For landscaping design in Mount Kisco, NY, the local climate, soil, and regulations inform the plan and project schedule. When projects involve permits, HOA approvals, or custom materials, they can take 2—6 weeks longer. Simpler projects with readily available materials often proceed much faster. After the documents are complete, The Grounds Guys can provide a quote and schedule your landscape installation. Weather patterns and supplier availability can influence crew schedules; installations may be timed for the season to achieve the best results.
-
Your budget plays a big role in deciding which materials are right for your landscape project. You could choose from natural stone, high-end hardwoods, or more economical options like concrete pavers, composites, or gravel. Focus on value rather than just initial cost. Low-maintenance plants and efficient systems reduce long-term expenses, while durable materials prevent frequent replacement. Working with a tight budget? Prioritize essentials like grading, drainage, and safe pathways, then phase aesthetic upgrades as funds allow. Quick-impact options like sod installation can deliver immediate curb appeal while larger features wait for a future phase. Our service professionals understand landscape design in Mount Kisco, NY, and can maximize your budget through local expertise. We offer multiple options at different price points, helping you make informed decisions that balance cost, quality, and long-term value.
-
Your maintenance timeline depends on the elements included in your landscaping design and their specific care requirements. After sod installation, expect intensive watering for 2—3 weeks, followed by regular mowing, fertilization, and seasonal treatments. Hardscape features need occasional power washing and resealing, while plantings require pruning, mulching, and periodic replacements based on their lifecycle. Smart landscaping design during installation can minimize future maintenance demands. Native plants require less intervention than exotic species, while quality materials reduce replacement frequency. Understanding landscape design in Mount Kisco, NY, helps predict maintenance needs based on local climate, soil conditions, and plant performance. Our team provides realistic expectations and can arrange professional maintenance services to keep your investment thriving long-term.

Yes, there are excellent sustainable options available through modern landscaping design techniques! Eco-friendly approaches include drought-resistant plants, recycled materials, and water-efficient systems that create beautiful landscapes while minimizing environmental impact. Sustainable landscape installation focuses on working with natural systems rather than fighting them. Rain gardens manage stormwater runoff, native plants support beneficial insects, and efficient irrigation reduces water consumption. Even sod installation can be eco-conscious when you select grass varieties adapted to your regional climate conditions. Environmental stewardship through design in landscape planning considers both immediate beauty and long-term ecological impact. Professional landscape designers can integrate sustainable elements into your landscaping design that reduce your yard’s carbon footprint while enhancing your outdoor living experience. Professional expertise in sustainable landscape design in Mount Kisco, NY, helps ensure your eco-friendly choices succeed in regional climate and soil conditions. We’ll recommend green practices and materials that create beautiful, environmentally responsible outdoor spaces you can feel good about.
